Production UPDATE and Imperial GOLD
about 8 years ago – Fri, Nov 11, 2016 at 09:27:00 AM

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to give a quick update on how production's going for the ROME Decks. Today Legends sent over the last of the new Digital Proofs, and they looked great! Now they're getting started on the new Physical Proofs (the first round of Physical Proofs are the Tuck Box and Toga Sleeve prototypes I used for the project page's photos). With any luck, the Physical Proofs will be finished by the end of November. Assuming they're good, I would love to be able to get us on the Print Schedule sometime in December. If that's possible, that could mean a late-January to mid-February timing for fulfillment to Backers. That would be awesome!!

Here's a look at the Uncut layout for the Face Cards (CLICK IMAGE FOR HI RES):

IMPERIAL GOLD:

Also, I'm proud to announce that my first SELF-FUNDED Deck is available now on my website. The Imperial GOLD Deck is Limited to 1,000 Decks and printed by Expert Playing Cards on their Classic Finish. I printed them with Expert because they're a big part of the 52 Joker Convention (where the Decks were debuted). Expert and Legends use the same Printer, so the Imperial Cards have the same feel and finish as the ROME Deck will have (as do all of the Decks on my website - minus the Plastic Stock / Glow-In-The-Dark Cosmic Lanes Deck).

The Tuck Box for the Imperial Gold Deck is printed on a Gold Luminescent paper stock + 4-Color Process + Red Foil + Gold Foil + Embossing + an Individually-Numbered Seal Sticker that's printed in a Dark Red Pantone on a Gold Foil material. It's shiny!!

GILDED Decks Differentation
about 8 years ago – Tue, Nov 01, 2016 at 12:55:32 PM

Hey Everyone,

As promised, I have found what I think is cool, and appropriate, solution to differentiating the Gilded Pairs from the regular Toga Pairs.

The Antony and Caesar Gilded Stickers will each be 1.5"w x 1.33"h and printed on a Gold FOIL material. The Caesar Sticker design will be printed with a Dark Red Pantone, and the Antony Sticker design will be printed with a Dark Blue Pantone. I will Sign and Number each Sticker personally (in Black Ink or Red/Blue Ink, whichever looks best).

After the Stickers are Signed and Numbered, I will ship them to Gamblers and their Gilder will apply the Stickers to the Togas and rewrap the finished Gilded Cards, Tucks, Togas and Stickers with Cellophane!

There are just 8 GILDED Pairs remaining, so if you want any, please Add-On and send me a PM soon.

Below are Mockups of the Gilded Stickers in position.

thanks, Randy

52 Joker and PANTHEON
about 8 years ago – Mon, Oct 31, 2016 at 10:03:55 AM

Hey Everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend! The 52 Joker Convention was a great time!! Lots of late nights, not much sleep, and more talking than I usually do in a full month's time. I look forward to it every year!

I want to personally thank my buddy Mike Wilson for attending this year. Mike is a Playing Card fan and cardist who also lives in Indianapolis. Our families have become good friends throughout this year, and Mike's family took the trip up to Chicago for this year's Convention. Our kids and wives were off enjoying Chicago sites, while Mike and I partook in the many events of the Convention. Great times!!

Here's a pic Steve Brooks had taken after the closing Banquet Dinner (L to R BACK ROW - Randy Butterfield, Bill Kalush, Steve Brooks, Daniel Nicholas and Paul Carpenter • L to R FRONT ROW - Jody Eklund, Kevin Reylek, Lance Miller and Ben Kolozsi • Alex Chin and Mark Stutzman had to leave before the Banquet Dinner):

THE PANTHEON DECK

The Pantheon Deck is a Limited Deck from Giovanni Meroni of Thirdway Industries (located in Italy)! The Tuck Box is adorned with a gorgeous design that utilizes Gold AND Purple Foils. All of the Pantheon Court Cards are Greek Gods, and the Back Card design will shine with luxurious Gold FOIL!

GILDED ROME Decks!
about 8 years ago – Fri, Oct 28, 2016 at 03:35:37 PM

Happy Friday Everyone,

AVAILABLE NOW are a special pair of Decks that I envisioned at the very beginning of the ROME design process - Red and Blue Gilded Edge Decks!

Even though I've always been so impressed with the beauty and high-end look of it, I've never done Gilded Edges with any of my solo Decks. The ROME Gilded Edge Decks are LIMITED to 60 pairs and are priced at $60 per pair ($64 INT.). They will include the Antony and Caesar Tuck Boxes AND Toga Sleeves. Gamblers Warehouse, the fulfillment company for this project, will be manufacturing the Gilded Decks and rewrapping them with Cellophane upon completion. They do an exceptional job with the Gilding!

If you would like a pair of ROME Gilded Decks, just hit the BLUE "Manage Your Pledge" button & add $60 ($64 INT.) to your Pledge Amount. And please send me a PM to let me know of your order, as I will be keeping track of the Gilded Edge pairs manually. Your spot will not be reserved unless you ALSO send me a Private Message via Kickstarter as soon as you add-on your funds. I'll reply back to confirm your reservation for 1 of the 60 Gilded Edge pairs.

Thank you, Randy

Gilded Pairs INFO
about 8 years ago – Fri, Oct 28, 2016 at 03:35:36 PM

Hey Everyone,

A few Backers have asked if the Gilded Pairs will be noticeably different than the non-Gilded Toga Pairs. Seeing as this is my first foray into Gilded Decks, I had not thought about that little detail.

I WILL find a way to mark the Toga Sleeves or Tuck Boxes to make it apparent that the unopended Decks are indeed the Gilded Decks. I'll find a fitting, and eye-pleasing solution over the next few days. A little brainstorming for the weekend is always good!!

thanks, Randy
